What is a Technical Service Bulletin

Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are publications designed to provide a wide range of technical information on a variety of topics. Topics may include information associated with AMSOIL products, applications, equipment concerns, position statements or market trends to mention a few. They are provided in an effort to keep you informed and hence assist you in providing proper service to your accounts.

The AMSOIL TSBs are broken down into nine general groups or categories. On the upper left hand corner of the TSB, the first two letters correspond to whichever category the subject matter pertains to. The seven general categories are as follows:

  • DT- Drive Train
  • MO- Motor Oil
  • SE- Small Engines
  • FL- Filtration (oil, fuel or air)
  • GR- Grease
  • ID- Industrial (compressor, hydraulic or gear and bearing oils)
  • OA- Oil Analysis
  • TR- Training
  • OT- Other
After any one of these seven two-letter categories, the year and month the publication was created follows. The last two digits represent the order the TSB was created during that month. For example, this TSB (OT-2004-04-01), is grouped as “Other,” created in 2004, in the month of April, and is the first TSB written during that month.

Following the TSB number is the specific date the document began to be prepared. Below the date is a description of any AMSOIL product (s) or item(s) it may pertain to. This description may vary from something generic like “all AMSOIL SDF oil filters” to something more specific such as “AMSOIL SDF15 oil filter”. The subject follows giving a general idea of what the TSB subject matter is going to pertain to. An example would be “installation tips for all AMSOIL full flow oil filters”.

We believe the AMSOIL TSB is a very useful tool helping you to gather and share valuable knowledge. The hope is by providing this service, it will help you to improve the service you offer.

As new TSBs are developed, they will be available in a section labeled “Technical Service Bulletins” in the AMSOIL Dealer Zone within the corporate website. An index of TSBs can also be found at that location by reviewing TSB OT- 2004-04-02. Bulletins are listed by TSB number, category, subject and date issue.

This TSB is updated whenever a new bulletin is issued. AMSOIL INC., AMSOIL Bldg., Superior, WI 54880 (715) 392-7101
