How clean is your hydraulic fluid?
A Bobcat hydraulic system employs a large filter to remove contaminants and moisture that could otherwise damage pumps and gears. Minute particles suspended in oil are highly abrasive, as you’re aware, and etch the polished faces of moving and stationary parts like valves and shafts. Over time, that wear reduces the pressure it can withstand and can no longer hold a seal as well. Then it’s a fast road to failure.
Clean hydraulic oil depends on premium oil filtration, and starting out with the best synthetic hydraulic fluid is a wise idea. AMSOIL includes zinc-based anti-wear and antioxidant additives that resist immense pressure, making them perfect for high- and low-pressure vane and gear pumps and axial piston pumps.
Hydraulic oil for cold weather
AMSOIL synthetic base oils have low pour points and don’t use paraffin for lubricants that gel up in cold weather. AW (anti-wear) Series Oils are ideal for cold-weather applications even without preheating, extreme temperature ranges, and water separates easily from the hydraulic fluid itself. For the end user, that means longer intervals between replacement and lower water contamination that can pit and rust internal surfaces.
